With the third print in the skater series, I started to push the limits of the woodblocks. I made some mistakes, some cool results. I found out a lot about the limitations of the woodblocks. There is only a certain amount of detail that the blocks can physically hold, just due to the structure of the wood.
I started to document the making of these prints a little more, as you can see in this post from my blog about this print in progress. I also gave a little insight into my history with skateboards and with being a skater as a kid.
Like with all of these prints, I listened to punk rock while sketching and carving these, to keep pumped up and in the right mood. This print is named after a few words from an Operation Ivy song:
“Sound System” from the Hectic EP
This is the second to last of these prints, and I am happy with these results.
